Sentōdan IG-01 v1.9— Interference Generator
Sentōdan IG-01 — Interference Generator / 干渉発生器
IG-01 is a playable electronic instrument presented as a modern reconstruction of a fictional Sentōdan instrument from 1977.
Enjoy the Demo and purchase the emulation for $5 at the bottom of the screen.
It combines two independently tunable oscillators with filtering, modulation, rhythm generation, distortion, delay and three performance crossfaders. It can be played from the built-in two-octave test keyboard, a computer keyboard, or compatible USB MIDI equipment.
IG-01 is not an emulation of an actual historical synthesizer. Sentōdan and the original 1977 IG-01 are fictional. The instrument, interface and audio system presented here are a contemporary work inspired by late-1970s Japanese electronic instruments, laboratory equipment and technical documentation.
SOUND GENERATION
Two oscillators can generate sine, triangle, square and sawtooth waves. Each oscillator has independent tuning and level controls, with a dedicated crossfader for moving continuously between OSC A and OSC B.
Three performance modes change the behavior of the instrument:
BASS — keyboard-controlled sustained electronic tones
DRONE — continuous sound for tuning, beating and modulation
PERCUSSION — short pitch-envelope strikes derived from the two oscillators
A master octave control shifts the instrument by −1, 0 or +1 octave, while glide, attack and decay controls alter its response.
FILTER & MODULATION
IG-01 includes a resonant low-pass filter and an LFO that can control filter movement, tremolo, or both.
The rhythm system provides adjustable tempo and swing and can repeatedly trigger the instrument to create mechanical pulses, bass sequences, percussion patterns and repeating drones.
PARALLEL EFFECTS
Distortion and digital delay operate as parallel signal paths.
Crossfader 2 continuously moves between distortion and delay, while Crossfader 3 controls the balance between the untreated source and processed signal.
Delay feedback can range from restrained echoes to dense repeating textures.
EXTERNAL AUDIO
Compatible browsers can use a microphone or audio-interface input as an AUX source. External sound can pass through the IG-01 filter, modulation, distortion and delay system or be combined with the internal synthesizer.
The browser reconstruction also includes deliberately lo-fi octave processing for external signals.
CONTROL
• Built-in two-octave test keyboard
• Computer keyboard control
• USB MIDI input in compatible browsers
• Mouse and touch controls
• Three performance crossfaders
A FICTIONAL INSTRUMENT
Sentōdan (尖頭弾) and the 1977 IG-01 are fictional. This software does not claim to reproduce a historical circuit or commercially manufactured vintage instrument. The fictional history and technical presentation are part of the work.
No supernatural behavior is implemented.
If this sells well enough I will make physical copies, with manuals and period accurate packaging.
